Environmental Management
The Parkstone Group recognises and is aware of the positive and negative impact that its business activities have on the environment. The Parkstone Group understands that high quality environmental management and training to increase awareness is a key and integral part of its business. The policies, objectives and considerable experience established by the company enables the Group to manage and reduce the risks whilst carrying out it's business activities, combining this with developing schemes that improve the environment that we live in. Schemes that provide a positive impact upon the local community that surround our business activities and also schemes that have a positive environmental impact upon our employees.
This commitment can be demonstrated by the Parkstone Group operating an integrated management system certified to ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and BSI-OHSAS 18001.
The senior management structure and the business directors are fully committed and focused upon the need for the business to produce positive impacts upon the environment. We aim to use materials and resources, including energy, efficiently using sustainable construction methods and materials where practicable. We shall manage and minimise waste, whilst maximising recycling and reuse opportunities. Control noise, contamination, discharges and emissions, and so mitigate the risk of pollution.
This commitment is demonstrated by the recent introduction of a business department solely dedicated to Health, Safety and Environmental issues. The health, safety and environmental policy and policy objectives are reviewed on an annual basis to ensure the targeted environmental objectives are being achieved, bettered or subject to change in environmental legislation.
In May 2007 the Parkstone Group environmental objectives included a commitment to reduce its carbon emissions by 2.5% in specific areas of its business. A report was commissioned to establish carbon emissions in specified measurable areas of our business, being our Head Office and Company vehicles. The Carbon footprint report was compiled and submitted for board approval and approved on the 30th May 2006. This again demonstrating that the Parkstone Group environmental policies and commitments are at the forefront of its business activities within the construction industry.
