The main works comprised excavation and concrete of a complete network of ground beams, incorporating 6 nr lift shafts, an underground water retention tank and numerous concrete structures. Also extensive new car parking facilities.
The picture shows an additional 15m diameter turntable structure capable of carrying 40t articulated vehicles servicing the main store. This is to be installed by British Turntable Ltd in a 750mm deep underground pit constructed by Parkstone.
Parkstone personnel have worked closely with other contractors onsite to ensure that works are suitably managed allowing for seamless construction and thereby reducing programme times. The works from Parkstone have accelerated and are currently approximately 5 weeks ahead of programme, helping others achieve early completions.
Parkstone are to revisit site April 2009 to complete external works, allowing commissioning of the store and development of the next phase.
