Through the main contractor Carillion, Parkstone were awarded the groundworks and Reinforced Concrete Structure for the new NHS Brierley Hill Health and Social Care Centre. The new centre is on the site of an old school and is in an area of the Black Country that has seen considerable mine workings over the years so during the initial excavation many possible challenges had to be taken into account.
The first phase of the excavation work involved extensive shoring up and pile driving to take the massive weight of the new hospital over an underground car park.
Parkstone Managing Director, John Love says, ‘this project has provided us with a number of challenges and on every occasion our expertise and experience has ensured solutions are found quickly. As a company we are moving forward with a number of new reinforced concrete contracts and it is an area of our business which we feel can offer further added value to our clients.’
Despite various challenges mainly due to the difficult excavation work involved in the early phases of the project the latest pictures show the significant progress of the concrete frame. Back to news index |
