Parkstone Group Move Forward with Concrete Frame for leading Academy
Parkstone Group is delighted to be chosen by BAM Construction Midlands to supply earthworks and groundworks along with an extensive Concrete Frame for the new school that will eventually replace Dartmouth High School in Great Barr and will be renamed Q3 Academy.
Construction of the new building has now started and is scheduled to be completed early in 2010. The final building will provide a first class learning resource with state of the art facilities.
The frame itself will be approximately 9000m2 of insitu concrete over 3 floors. Each floor will be post tensioned and contain over 200no reinforced concrete columns of varying sizes from 400mm diameter up to 80mm x 250mm. There is also 15no 300mm thick shear walls on each level with 200 linear metres of retaining wall 400mm thick at a height between 4m and 6m.
Parkstone is building a reputation for carrying out large scale groundworks and concrete frame projects. A number of main contractors are keen to use the company’s expertise and experience in these areas. Paul Lewis from Parkstone Project Manager says: ‘We are delighted to be awarded this very prestigious project. BAM were particularly impressed with our work on the North Leamington School contract and therefore were looking to partner Parkstone in other similar ventures. Our expertise in groundworks has ensured we can further expand the business into concrete frames'.
