Janet Cornock Completes the Woman and Home Charity Walk
A team of four local ladies including Parkstone’s Janet Cornock and Sue Simpson completed the
Woman and Home Ribbon Walk for Breast Cancer earlier this month.
The walk was held at Blenheim Palace and had an early start with a group
warm up followed by the main event –
20 miles around the Oxfordshire countryside. All competitors wore pink t-shirts to highlight the Charity.
Janet commented ‘it was a very humid day, it was hard going carrying a rucksack on your back packed with items’ required for 20 miles.
It wasn’t long before we realised what we had let ourselves in for.
But we kept reminding ourselves what we were doing it for! It was a terrific day, hard work but gratifying when we crossed the line. The next day our feet were sore and body ached, but it does not compare to the people who suffer with cancer.
Also Men can have breast cancer! In fact the husband of one of the ladies that did the walk with us had
died from breast cancer in April this year. I felt humbled walking with her. She gathered strength from all the
people that were taking part, because they had lost somebody or know somebody suffering from cancer!
I would like to take this opportunity to Thank all those People in Parkstone Group and the Directors for
supporting me in this event. It’s a day that will stay in my mind for a long time!
