Parkstone have been awarded a £800k contract for BAM Construction that forms part of a £multi million package of works to transform the 5 storey grade II listed Slingfield Mill (former carpet mill) into a Debenhams department store.

Works commenced onsite late September 08 with a completion date of June 2009. The works to the 139 year old building includes installation of an extensive storm and pumped foul water drainage system. Construction of mass concrete foundations both externally and internally. Extensive structural alterations that will involve meticulous conservation and repair of the original features of the property. The proposals include a contemporary two storey glass box extension to the front and rear elevations of the building. Parkstone will also construct a specialist Omnia deck 1st floor slab to both extensions.

One of the early tasks onsite will be to relocate the Brinton's Bell. Located at the Brinton's town centre factory. This bell summoned the Kidderminster volunteer fire brigade into action. The bell became redundant in 1882 when a ship's whistle known locally as the 'Brinton's Bull' was commissioned to provide a more audible fire alarm.
