Reports To Senior Estimator

Key Tasks:

  • Assistance in all aspects of our tender / bid process, internally, externally pre and post contract.

  • Be capable of producing your own estimates, for small to medium schemes and presenting these using company estimating software “Causeway” for  review.

  • Administration of both electronic and hard copy documents / records, checking documents received, drawings etc  and ensure audit trail of any information updates.

  • Ensure record kept to  monitor the impact of any changes / adjustments to pricing due to information change or otherwise.

  • Measurement support to include quantities checks on bills of quantities.

  • Development of knowledge of Methods of Measurement including SMM7 and CESSM.

  • Assistance with pricing, compiling rates and using estimating software.

  • In conjunction with procurement and aggregates dept’s, assist in obtaining quotations for materials, plant etc.

  • Obtain sub-contractor quotes where applicable, if not priced using direct men/plant.

  • Understand the documents, flag up potential pinch points / discrepancies between the pricing bills and any other information issued as part of our risk / opportunity management process.

  • Taking off quantities at tender stage for ‘Plan and Spec’ or lump sum contracts on an as and when required basis.

  • Liaison with other staff including Project Teams, Admin, Procurement and Directors.

  • Being accountable for self development skills and training including contract knowledge, as well as IT skills, health and safety etc.

  • Develop knowledge of the estimating process, rate build ups, outputs.

  • Liaise with Commercial teams to provide Cost analysis feedback to inform estimating database.

  • Technical knowledge of work scope and risks in the ground.

  • To ensure the proper balance between work experience, study and development of skills.

  • Developing harmonious relationships with Parkstone staff, supply chain and external clients.

Knowledge and Experience:

A min 2 years work experience plus technical qualification. Candidate may still be studying day release. Good IT skills.
