Purpose of the job
To protect the position and interests of PARKSTONE CONSTRUCTION Limited and the PARKSTONE Group of companies and ensure that all appropriate records, information, drawings and setting out information are in place to ensure proper delivery of the production aspect of the scheme and ensure that programme is maintained by implementing and transferring this information to the “field” of operatives and workforce.
Reporting to and responsible for
Reporting to the Project Manager who is responsible for directing and overseeing all aspects of the works on site with emphasis on quality, methodology, time and health and safety. By implementing good construction practice and techniques, the Site Engineer shall ensure that the safety, quality and programme objectives of the project are bettered or met.

Principal accountabilities and role
Understand and implement measures to protect the assets and value of PARKSTONE CONSTRUCTION and the PARKSTONE Group.
Achieve the targets and objectives for the project as defined in the Project Management Plan.
Comply with the requirements of the Parkstone Group Integrated Management System.
Protect the health, safety and welfare of all personnel on site and also the health, safety and welfare of the general public.
To promote and work within a Team orientated environment, being enthusiastic, motivated, passionate about the project(s) and success of the project(s) and encouraging others to similarly behave in a non-adversarial manner.
Work in compliance with the appropriate Method Statement, Risk Assessments, for all construction activities. With particular care and caution appertaining to:

Constantly be aware and work in accordance with the planning and programme of the project.
Set a personal and professional example. Look for and make improvements to systems and self-development.
Full site engineering responsibilities and organisation at a staff level with you being directly responsible to the appropriate Project Manager. You will be deemed to be site-based.
Recording of all on site activities by site diary, including collection of day works and variations to the contract as and when required.
Scheduling and taking off materials prior to and post-buying stage.
Liaison with all appropriate “in-house” Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers to ensure all financial implications are being pursued and recovered.
Awareness of Health and Safety issues and compliance with Company Health and Safety procedures.
Line and level Control of sub-contractors and Statutory Authorities.
Control and progress of sub-engineers within your control.
Quality Control.
Land surveying and setting out of sites by use of Electronic Total Station including our requirement for you to take up future training to enable you to down-load information to Landscape (or alternative software) for drawing and information production. Acceptance and taking up further training in this field of expertise.
Where possible to instruct other site engineers (employed by this company) in the use of surveying instruments and their application to the type and nature of work we primarily undertake.
Planning and organising
Control all site labour and plant and co-ordinate trades and sub-contractors in their phased tasks and ensure that information for material and subcontract procurement is forwarded in order that materials and sub contractors can be procured.
Manage operations in relation to an up to date and regularly reviewed programme of works.
Maintain a tidy site. Ensure that the presentation and appearance of the project remains at a consistently high standard.
Recording of personal site activities by diary.
Scheduling and taking off materials (where necessary).
Engaging and monitoring of Site Engineers (directly employed or otherwise) to ensure efficient and proper control of the works.
Direction and support
Participate in regular review meetings to be hosted by the Project Manager and those, which may be attended from time to time by other members of the PARKSTONE Team.
Implement the contents of the Project Management Plan and Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan, without compromise and suggest any necessary changes to the plans. Impart the contents of the plans to all relevant persons on site and ensure that they buy into and adopt the plan’s contents.
Working contacts
Reporting to the Project Manager.
Regular contact is necessary with the Project Manager; the Works Manager; the Foreman (Foremen); the Quantity Surveyor (where necessary).
Submit Personal Allocation Sheets to PARKSTONE Group offices on time and at the prescribed intervals.
Compliance with ALL internal policies and procedures (copies available from the Project Manager or Contracts Manager).
Knowledge and experience
To be as a minimum, or equivalent…(training will be offered where not currently accredited)
